Golf: Stacey Keating wins again

STACEY Keating secured back-to-back victories on the Ladies European Tour by coming from three shots down to win the Lacoste Ladies Open de France.

Australian Keating, whose victory last time out in Tenerife was her first on the Tour, began the final day trailing the leader, Diana Luna of Italy, by three but a six-under-par round of 64 was enough to recover for victory, one ahead of Luna.

American Hannah Jun and Azahara Munoz of Spain shared third place while Mexican Lorena Ochoa, the former world number one who came out of retirement for this event as a favour to her sponsors, finished in a tie for 22nd.

• Scotland girl international Jess Meek (Carnoustie Ladies), an 18-year-old +1 player, won the North-east/North/Angus girls’ one-round golf competition at Ellon Golf Club.

Meek, a member of the Angus team who recently won the Scottish women’s county team championship, was playing in one of her last events as a junior. She shot an 82 on a wet course to win the top award by one shot from Kimberley Beveridge (Aboyne).

Beveridge was leading until she incurred a two-shot penalty by playing a wrong ball to run up a triple bogey 7 at the last hole. She finished second on 83.

Sophie Alexander (Deeside) had the third best gross score of 84 but won the leading handicap prize for a net 78, one ahead of Molly Stewart (Murcar Links).
