Golf: Murray triumphs in boys’ championship

PAUL lawrie foundation: Ben Murray (Portlethen) beat namesake Scott Murray (Inchmarlo) by two holes in the final of the Paul Lawrie Foundation North-east District Under-18 boys’ championship at Auchmill Golf Club, Aberdeen yesterday.

In the morning semi-finals, Ben Murray beat Ray Gordon (Alford) by 8 and 6, while Scott Murray beat Sam Kiloh (Portlethen), winner of the district boys’ stroke-play title on Thursday, at the 23rd hole.

Fintan McKenna (Royal Aberdeen) won the Under-14 event after triumphing on a card countback.
