Golf: Law keen to ‘kick on’ after win in Turkey

DAVID Law is aiming to “really kick on” after getting his 2013 campaign off to a flying start by winning on the Pro Golf Tour in Turkey – his second success in the professional ranks.

“I’m delighted with the win as it means the practice I’ve done this winter has been worthwhile and productive,” said the 21-year-old Aberdonian after his one-shot success in the Sueno Dunes Classic in Belek. “I’ve been working hard on my long game with my coach Billy Fyfe and my short game with [mentor] Paul Lawrie and both have been
improving steadily.”

Law has stayed on in Turkey for the Sueno Pines Classic starting today then, after a Challenge Tour appearance in the Kenya Open, has four more events on the Pro Golf Tour – two in
Morocco and two in Egypt. “The key for me now is to really kick on and keep performing,” added the twice Scottish champion.

Like Law, James Byrne is aiming to be playing on the European Tour next year and he’s going to focus most of his attention this season on the Asian Tour, despite also securing a card for the Sunshine Tour in South Africa. “My focus will definitely be on the Asian Tour this year, playing as many tournaments as possible. However, I should also have time for quite a few Sunshine Tour events,” said Byrne.
