Golf: Fox and Hutton in share of lead at PGA

Graham Fox and Kenny Hutton are the leaders at the halfway stage at the King’s Course at Gleneagles.

East Kilbride’s Fox and 48-year-old Hutton, 18 years the professional at Downfield in Dundee played 32 holes yesterday, with only a 20-minute break between rounds, as the championship got back onto an even keel after Monday’s deluge brought play to a premature end.

Hutton’s seven-under aggregate of 135 (68-67) left him tied with Fox and a shot ahead of Banchory’s Greig Hutcheon, who carded two 68s, and last year’s champion, Alan Lockhart, with former European Rookie of the Year, Scott Henderson, a further shot behind.

Fox, who had identical scores to Hutton’s, missed a tiddler on the 13th green but made amends with eagle at the par-5 last.
