Four Scots on course to win cards in Spain
as the hopefuls brace themselves for a soaking – wet weather is forecast to hit Girona today – four members of the Scottish contingent are in card-winning positions at the halfway stage of the European Tour Qualifying School.
Helensburgh veteran Gary Orr contined to lead the way for the Scots after the third round, the 45-year-old signing for a 68 to sit in a tie for eighth on eight-under.
Fifer George Murray’s 70 left him two shots behind his compatriot in joint-17th place, while Callum Macaulay took route 66 to earn a share of 26th alongside fellow Scot Alastair Forsyth who carded a 68.
Hampered so far by a cold putter, Jamie McLeary (69) is tied for 45th on two-under while Scott Drummond (two-over), Andrew McArthur (four-over), Raymond Russell (six-over) and Wallace Booth (seven-under) all have work to do in order to survive tonight’s 72-hole cut.
Tano Goya birdied four of his last five holes on the Tour Course for a 64 to stretch his lead to two shots. The majority of those in contention will take on the more demanding Stadium Course today.
