Forsyth encouraged by fellow Scots

ALASTAIR Forsyth is using fellow Scots Paul Lawrie and Stephen Gallacher for inspiration as he bids to regain his place at the top table in European golf.

“It’s been a tough few years but I’m encouraged to know Stephen and Paul both had lengthy spells when they weren’t playing well before getting back to their best,” said the two-time Tour winner. “Now they’re leading the way in bringing the feelgood factor back to Scottish golf and I intend to follow.” Forsyth, who has had to rely mainly on invites since losing his card two seasons ago, is among ten Scots setting out in today’s opening round of the Joburg Open.

The field at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington is headed by South African world No 18 Charl Schwartzel.
