Course record of 63 for Orr at Aboyne

DAVID Orr (Mearns Castle) set a new professional course recored of five-under-par 63 at Aboyne in winning the top prize of £966 at the VSA Tartan pro-am. The amateur course record of 62 is held by Colin Forbes.

Orr had a bogey-free round studded with birdies at the sixth, seventh, ninth, tenth and 15th. He won by a single shot from joint runners-up David Patrick (Elie Sports Centre) and Graham Fox (Rowallan Castle). Christopher Currie (Caldwell) led the Munro’s 2 team to victory in the pro-am with a net total of 17-under-par 119. The amateur members were Ian Massie, Stuart Clow and Steven Scott.
