Scottish duo Chris Doak and Scott Henry secured their cards for next year’s European Tour at the Apulia San Domenico Grand Final in Italy – the European Challenge Tour’s final event of the season.
Doak finished in a share of seventh place after an excellent final-round 69, and while Henry ended the event in 39th, it was still enough to keep him in the top 11 of the Challenge Tour rankings and ensure he will be rubbing shoulders with the European elite next season.
Fellow Scott Raymond Russell, unfortunately, finished tied for 14th, which was not enough to lift him above 22nd in the rankings.
Doak’s fine finish to the tournament completed an excellent season for the Greenock golfer, and he said of his return to the European Tour for the first time since 2009: “I feel I’m a better player now. My first year on the European Tour I was a little wet behind the ears but I am looking forward to next year.
“It’s taken me a few years to get my card back but I have learned a lot, working with Bob Torrance –and I put it all down to him”
