LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR: Carlota Ciganda claimed a convincing seven-shot victory at the Suzhou Taihu Open after shooting a course-record eight-under-par 64 yesterday.

Carlota Ciganda claimed a convincing seven-shot victory at the Suzhou Taihu Open after shooting a course-record eight-under-par 64 yesterday.

The 22-year-old picked up eight birdies in a bogey-free round to finish the 54-hole event in a tournament record 17 under. Caroline Masson of Germany was second, while France’s Julie Greciet and England’s Florentyna Parker tied for third on six under.

Spaniard Ciganda said: “I was just thinking about playing my game, having fun, and I liked the course from the beginning. I was confident and I think it’s one of those weeks that everything goes right.
