Take two: Elgin City sell tickets for Rangers game

ELGIN City will bid to avoid a repeat of the ticketing shambles which led to their clash with Rangers being called off when they launch a public sale tonight for home supporters for the rearranged match.

The Black and Whites were fined £25,000 by the Scottish Football League after it was discovered that the club sold an extra 1,100 tickets on top of the 4,520 capacity of Borough Briggs.

Elgin chairman Graham Tatters has also been called to appear before a Scottish Football Association hearing next Thursday, charged with “knowingly distributing tickets in excess of the maximum capacity of the ground”.

The Third Division match was postponed on safety grounds just two days before the televised clash was due to take place on November 25 and the encounter will now go ahead a week on Saturday.

Tickets – limited to two per sale – go on sale to Elgin fans from 6.30pm to 8.30pm this evening and again from noon to 2pm on Friday afternoon.

They are priced £15 for adults and £10 for concessions.

Last month’s ticketing controversy proved costly for Elgin, with the club also having to reimburse Rangers for any costs they incurred relating to the match.
