Schools football: Clean sweep for school’s junior teams

MARY Erskine’s and Stewart’s Melville Junior School have made history by sweeping to victory in all the Edinburgh & Lothian District Primary 6 and 7 cups.

The Primary 7 boys won the Edinburgh Inspector’s Cup Winners beating St Mary’s Leith 10-2. The Primary 6 boys shared the Edinburgh School Board Cup with Cramond Primary School – the score was 5-5 after extra time and there were no penalties.

Not to be outdone, the Primary 6/7 girls claimed the Edinburgh EPSSA Girls’ Cup by defeating beating Blackhall 7-4.

“We are really proud,” said coach Richard Allison. “The boys and the girls have turned up in rain, hail and gales over the season and it was great to win something with the sun on their backs.”
