School sports: West provide five for Scotland trial

FOOTBALL: Five of the West team that won the Scottish Indoor Under-15 Championship this month – Laura Hamilton (Gleniffer High School), Courtney Whyte (St Roch’s Secondary), Katie Rice (St Ninians High School), Claire Adam (Woodfarm High School) and Collette Cavanagh (St Aloysius College) – have been named in the Scottish squad of 27 for the final trial to be held at Toryglen in Glasgow on Thursday.

Afterwards, the number will be cut to a squad of 18 for the Bob Doherty Tournament in Northern Ireland and an away match against England.

South East, the side that lost to West on penalties in the under-15 final, has the biggest representation with eight players in the final trial.

SQUAD FOR FINAL SCOTTISH TRIAL:

North: Becky Flaherty (Banchory Acad), Donna Paterson (Banff Academy), Cassie Cowper (Kincorth Academy), Emily Anderson (Ellon Academy), Sophie Anderson (Mintlaw Academy), Sheena Nichol (Millburn Academy).

West: Laura Hamilton (Gleniffer HS), Courtney Whyte (St Roch’s Secondary), Katie Rice (St Ninians HS), Claire Adam (Woodfarm HS), Collette Cavanagh (St Aloysius College).

East: Jade McLaren (Madras College), Amy Gallagher (Morgan Academy), Shannon MacNamara (Woodmill HS).

Central: Rachel Ross (Greenfaulds HS), Samantha Kerr (Graeme HS), Sophie Sweeney (Bishopbriggs Academy).

South West: Suzanne Smith (Holy Cross HS), Erin Cuthbert (Greenwood Academy), Chantelle Brown (Larkhall Academy), Ellis Dalgleish (Lockerbie Academy).

South East: Kirsty Jeffries (St George’s School), Cailin Michie (Boroughmuir HS), Jamie Lee Smith (Trinity HS), Amy Lynch (Currie HS), Chelsea Cornet (Beeslack HS), Reala McDonald (St.Margaret’s Academy), Alyshia Walker (Bathgate Academy), Ronaigh Douglas (Drummond HS).
