Ireland to face Hungary

The Republic of Ireland will face Hungary in their final warm-up game ahead of the Euro 2012 finals.

The Football Association of Ireland yesterday confirmed that Giovanni Trapattoni’s men will play a friendly in Budapest on 4 June.

Ireland will meet the Czech Republic at the Aviva Stadium on 29 February, but begin their preparations in earnest when Bosnia-Herzegovina head for Dublin on 26 May.

They will set off for their pre-tournament training camp in Montecatini, Italy the following day before their date with the Hungarians.

Trapattoni and his players will travel from Budapest to their base in Gdynia, Poland the next day, and will open their campaign against Croatia in Poznan on 10 June.

Meanwhile, fellow finalists France will face Estonia in their final warm-up match before taking on England in their first Euro 2012 Group D clash.

The French Football Federation confirmed Les Bleus will host the Baltic nation in Le Mans on Tuesday, 5 June, less than a week before they go up against Fabio Capello’s men on June 11 in Donetsk. France had already confirmed friendly matches against Iceland in Valenciennes on 27 May and against Serbia in Reims on 31 May.
