Hutton on his way out of Aston Villa

PAUL Lambert has confirmed Alan Hutton is looking for a new club after the Aston Villa manager deemed him surplus to requirements.

Hutton was left out of the matchday squad for Saturday’s 3-1 friendly defeat by Nottingham Forest and the 27-year-old right-back was also left behind when Villa went on tour to America.

Asked if Hutton will still be a Villa player by the time the transfer window closes on 31 August, Lambert – who has signed another full-back in Matthew Lowton – replied: “I don’t know, I’m not so sure.”

And asked if Hutton’s agent has been trying to find the player a new club this summer, Lambert replied: “I presume so.”
