Hibs in Rapid schedule for pre-season training

Hibernian have announced an eclectic pre-season schedule in preparation for the new SPL campaign, including a clash with Rapid Bucharest and a tour of Belgium.

The Easter Road outfit assemble for training on 2 July and are swiftly back in action, facing the Romanian giants at the Grangemouth Stadium, home of Falkirk Juniors, nine days later.

Manager Pat Fenlon will then oversee a five-day Belgian training camp that will include a gruelling schedule of three matches in four days. Hibs face SK Lierse to kick-off the tour on 18 July.

A match against OH Leuvens follows on 21 July before Hibs are back in action the next day, facing a select team of players from the Zeeland region in which the Edinburgh club will be based.

Fenlon explained: “The pre-season schedule is something different and gives us a change of scenery.

“Over the past couple of years, we’ve played a lot of Scottish clubs, so a change will be good for the team .”
