Fox poised for recall to Scotland fold
FORMER Celtic left-back Danny Fox is set to earn a recall to the Scotland squad today, casting further doubts over whether Lee Wallace’s decision to stay with Rangers in the Third Division will cost him his national team place.
Fox, now with English Premier League new boys Southampton, won his one and only Scotland cap in the 3-0 defeat to Wales in Cardiff in 2009 in what proved to be George Burley’s last game in charge. However, manager Craig Levein has been monitoring the 26-year-old’s form and is understood to be ready to include him in his squad for the friendly against Australia at Easter Road next Wednesday.
The addition of Fox would suggest fellow left-back Wallace is about to fall out of favour over his decision to commit to life in Scottish football’s lowest tier.
Jordan Rhodes is poised to be included, with captain Kenny Miller left out as he settles into life with new club Vancouver.
