Women attacked by handbag snatcher

FIVE women over the age of 50, including a disabled woman and an 81-year-old, have been robbed within a week in Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire.

A further intended victim, a 61-year-old, is thought to have suffered broken bones in her hand as she managed to hold
on to her bag during a struggle.

Police are hunting for a man who could be responsible for all five handbag snatches.

The suspect is a slim man and 5ft 7in tall. He was wearing a grey hooded top, dark-coloured jacked, dark bottoms and light trainers.

Detective Inspector Bob Frew, from Cumbernauld police office, said: “These have been frightening attacks for the women involved, and we can’t rule out the same man being responsible for all six.”
