Warrant issued over playpark assault

Police have issued a warrant for a 25-year-old man in relation to a “brutal and unprovoked” sexual assault on a woman in a playpark as she walked home following a night out.

The 23-year-old was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries following the assault in Pilrig Park, Edinburgh, early on Sunday. She had been out with friends at the Picture House nightclub and left around 3am. She was discovered at 6am by members of the public. Lothian and Borders Police have identified a man who is of interest to the investigation and are trying to establish his whereabouts.
