AT THE tender age of just ten years, a pint-sized Scots entrepreneur is the proud owner of his own flock of sheep.

While other children splash cash on computer games, farming mad Dougie MacDonald, of Benderloch, near Oban, invests his pocket money in livestock.

The self-made businessman, whose most recent acquisition was seven Suffolk sheep, which he bought for £100 each in a private deal, earns cash by helping his father and other farmers.

Dougie now owns 21 sheep and a cow. His mum Diane MacDonald, 33, said: “Any birthday money or Christmas money he gets, he doesn’t go out and buy computer games, he puts it in his wallet – just like a farmer –and saves it until he has enough to buy a sheep.”

Mrs MacDonald added: “He has always been obsessed by farming – he has been going to the mart since before nursery.

“When he was young, he would go out of the house and gather up a lot of footballs and pretend he was feeding them.

“Even as a wee boy Dougie wouldn’t watch telly, except if it was One Man and his Dog!”
