Police warning of online ‘fine’ scam

Internet users are being warned about a scam in which a message claiming to be from police asks them to pay a £100 fine.

Strathclyde Police said it was aware of a number of incidents in which a pop-up message has appeared on computer screens, claiming users had been viewing adult content. It then asks them to pay a fine over the telephone.
