Perthshire school-bus driver was drunk

A DRUNKEN school-bus driver picked up several children and drove them into a playground while he was three times over the legal alcohol limit.

Kenneth Carey had driven several miles and picked up around eight pupil before he was intercepted by police as he tried to park in the playground.

Carey, 56, who operates his own contract hire bus, was banned from driving yesterday after he admitted drinking and driving during the morning school run.

Carey, from Grandtully, Perthshire, admitted driving while he was exactly three times the legal limit in Killin and Breadalbane Academy Campus on 21 June last year.

Sheriff Michael Fletcher told Perth Sheriff Court that in light of the nature of the offence he would ban Carey from the road on an interim basis, pending sentence.
