Online snaps of Wills at work spark security fears

PHOTOGRAPHS showing a day in the working life of the Duke of Cambridge as a helicopter search and rescue pilot were hastily removed from his website yesterday amid fears they breached security.

The behind-the-scenes snaps were meant to show Prince William’s daily routine at RAF Valley in Anglesey.

They were released on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s website.

But some of the images had to be removed and reissued after an “administrative oversight” meant they had not been properly cleared.

The pictures show Prince William – known at work as Flight Lieutenant Wales – in a variety of scenarios, from planning and doing training on computers, to checking his Sea King helicopter, as well as resting with his colleagues during “downtime”.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: “A number of photographs of Flt-Lt Wales were taken whilst on duty working at RAF Valley on Anglesey, Wales.

“Due to an administrative oversight, these photos were not properly cleared at RAF Valley and the images showed unclassified MoD user names, passwords and computer screens on a restricted system.

“The passwords and user names shown have now been reset as a precaution and we are satisfied the images do not now contravene security regulations.”
