New lease of life for bank

A FORMER city centre bank is to be turned into shops and offices.

Construction work on the £50 million project at 110 Queen Street, in Glasgow, will begin in January to create 143,000sq ft of offices for 1,200 workers and 20,000sq ft of retail space.

The project, which is being developed and built by construction firm BAM, will receive a £9.6m loan from the Scottish Government-backed Scottish Partnership for Regeneration in Urban Centres Fund.

Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: “Developments like today’s £50m boost for Glasgow are central to stimulating economic growth.”
