‘Missing’ teen was sitting at home

POLICE launched a Facebook appeal after a 15-year-old girl was reported missing, only for her to reply to their message minutes later saying: “That’s awkward … I’m in my house”.

Tayside Police launched the appeal via social media and through a press release asking for information to find Rachael Whitton, of Arbroath.

Inspector David McIntosh posted an appeal to the force’s 30,000 Facebook followers stating: “Rachael was last seen in the Rowan Path area of Arbroath around half past 11, at night, on 17 November.”

But minutes later, Rachael replied to their Facebook status, saying that friends had reported her missing. She added: “I don’t know who or why.”
