Man attacked four while on licence, court told

A KNIFE attacker carried out a series of attacks on complete strangers while on licence, a court has heard.

Steven Scott, 23, from Inchinnan, admitted four assaults which took place over a five-day period in March last year in Renfrew, and Port Glasgow.

Advocate depute Sheena Fraser, prosecuting, told the High Court in Glasgow that Scott was jailed for more than five years in 2007 for attempted murder and was out on licence from that offence at the time.

He also had three other previous convictions involving the use of a knife.

His first victim, 19-year-old Ryan Keegan, was attacked around 11pm on 20 March in Renfrew. He was approached by Scoot and asked for a light. Mr Keegan said he didn’t have one, and seconds later was struck on the head with a knife.

In a victim impact statement, he said that he now fears going out, no matter what time it is.

Scott’s second victim was taxi driver Robert Hewitt, 50, who was left with a collapsed lung after being attacked on 22 March in Renfrew.

Victim number three was another taxi driver, Stephen O’Hagan, 42, in Port Glasgow, on 23 March. Finally, Steven Maxwell, 23, was stabbed on the head and body in Port Glasgow on 24 March.

Scott will be sentenced at Aberdeen High Court next month.
