FOUR children and a van driver were injured today in a collision between a school bus and a van in Perthshire.

The secondary pupils sustained minor injuries in the crash involving a double-decker bus and a Volkswagen Caravelle van shortly before 8.15am on the Kinclaven Road, a mile outside the village of Murthly, near Coupar Angus.

The 34 year-old van driver sustained a head injury and a broken collarbone and was taken by ambulance for treatment at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said: “His injuries are described as serious but not life threatening.”

He added: “There were four passengers on the bus, all of secondary school age. The 60 year-old driver was unhurt, three of the children suffered very minor injuries and did not require hospital attention, while the fourth – a 15 year-old boy – was taken to Perth Royal Infirmary as a precaution having sustained a slight shoulder injury.

“The road was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.”
