Footballer faces sectarian charge
A FOOTBALLER has appeared in court accused of a sectarian breach of the peace.
Goalkeeper Grant Adam, 20, is alleged to have conducted himself in a disorderly manner by swearing, singing and chanting sectarian slogans in Ingram Street, Glasgow, in the early hours of 6 November.
The Rangers player, who denies the charge, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court, yesterday.
Dressed in a black suit and white shirt, the footballer only spoke to confirm his name.
The case, which had been due to go to trial yesterday, was adjourned following legal discussions between the Crown and the defence.
Adam, who is on loan to Lanarkshire side Airdrie United, was released on bail and will now be tried in May.
He has been a member of the Old Firm club since leaving school.
