The steam locomotive Tornado passes through Abbeyhill in Edinburgh yesterday in a recreation of the famous express train The Elizabethan – which was the premier express train on the East Coast Main Line in the post-war period – as part of the celebrations surrounding the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Tornado was heading south from Edinburgh on its 393-mile journey to London
