The victim, a 45-year-old, was walking in a flat stairwell in Royston Mains Crescent, Edinburgh, at around 5:30pm on Tuesday when he was attacked by three men who threatened him with a knife and emptied his pockets.

He was then forced into a black car with them, which drove off towards Crewe Road North, Lothian and Borders Police said. They stopped at a walkway between a Morrisons supermarket and Ainslie Park Leisure Centre and they got out of the car.

The man tried to raise the alarm with passing cyclists but was dragged back into the car and taken back to Royston Mains Crescent. The three men then made off and the victim contacted police.
