Drunk teenager injured woman by driving stolen car into house

A TEENAGE drink driver crashed a stolen car into a house, leaving an elderly woman injured and covered in rubble.

Liam Donaldson did not have a driving licence when he lost control of the car.

The teenager – who was 16 at the time of the offence – took the car after a night out in Aberdeen.

He hit a lamp-post, drove through a garden wall and crashed into the property in the early hours of the morning.

Donaldson, now 17, admitted stealing a car and driving without a licence or insurance when he appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.

He also admitted injuring the pensioner and damaging the property by driving dangerously while under the influence of alcohol on 12 May.

The teenager escaped from the car’s rear window and fled the scene following the smash.

A police investigation followed and Donaldson was detained after the owner of the stolen car suspected his involvement and his DNA was discovered on the airbag.

Fiscal depute Felicity Merson said the elderly couple were moved to temporary accommodation following the incident and it took three months for structural engineers to repair their home in Torry.

Sheriff Graeme Napier deferred sentence so that reports could be prepared.

Donaldson, of Aberdeen, was released on bail and banned from driving.
