A picture of Canongate Kirkyard in Edinburgh, taken by Daniel Thornton from the US, is the winner of the Global Horizons Photography Competition run by Edinburgh University.

The contest is open to all non-UK students, and was judged by Scotsman photographer Jane Barlow.
