Call for more action on reoffending

THE justice secretary and other politicians need to show stronger leadership to reduce reoffending in Scotland, according to the public spending watchdog.

The Scottish Government has frequently hailed a “record low” in reoffending, but auditor general for Scotland Caroline Gardner told MSPs yesterday there has been little reduction over the past 13 years and the most effective remedies are the least available.
