Brits prove to be US albums success
The success of One Direction, Adele and Mumford & Sons helped push UK artists to their biggest share yet of the US albums market.
New figures from the British Phonographic Industry show the Brit stars accounted for a 13.7 per cent share of album sales in 2012 across the US. That compares with 11.7 per cent the year before, which in itself had been the highest proportion of the century so far. Four of the five best-selling albums in the US last year were by UK acts, with one each by Adele and Mumford & Sons, while One Direction claimed two of the other top five slots.
