Book Week set for a sequel
A NATIONAL celebration of reading is set to be held annually after more than 440 events were staged across Scotland in a pilot project over the last week.
Book Week Scotland saw big-name authors including Iain Banks, Val McDermid, pictured, and Janice Galloway at events around the country.
The Scottish Book Trust’s project also gave away 150,000 copies of a collection of stories and poems about the favourite places of celebrities and members of the public.
And Edinburgh’s mystery paper sculptor created five new models, which were hidden in different parts of Scotland, with clues revealed online every day to help book-lovers track them down.
Marc Lambert, chief executive of the Scottish Book Trust, which was awarded £150,000 from Creative Scotland for the project, said: “It is difficult to pick out highlights from such a successful initiative.”
