Armed masked man robs newsagents

A masked man robbed a newsagents of a three-figure sum of money during an armed robbery, police said.

The man, who was holding what is thought to be a firearm, threatened a man working at Ashraf newsagents on Carntyne Road in Glasgow’s east end around 2.40pm on Saturday and demanded money.

He left the store with the cash and went in the direction of Cranhill.

Strathclyde Police said the worker was not injured and the firearm was not discharged.

The man is described as white, around 5ft 11 ins, of slim build. He was wearing a balaclava, a blue and white tracksuit top and dark trousers.
