Scottish independence: Nicola Sturgeon in talks on vote issues
NICOLA Sturgeon is to begin talks with the Electoral Commission in the first of a series of meetings aimed at resolving the issues of campaign spending limits for the independence referendum and the wording of the question Scots will be asked in 2014.
The Scotsman has learned that Ms Sturgeon’s office yesterday contacted the commission to begin the process of resolving the two main outstanding issues – campaign finance and the question – following the signing of the referendum agreement in Edinburgh on Monday.
Ms Sturgeon and Electoral Commissioner for Scotland John McCormick are expected to use the meeting to discuss progress, after the commission was given a key role in testing the referendum question and having a say on spending.
