ALMOST half of broadband users in Scotland have never switched provider and may be paying £120 a year more than they should, according to new research. Collectively, UK consumers are wasting £1.1 bn a year by remaining loyal to providers, according to new figures from uswitch.com

Scots are paying an average of £28.96 a month for their broadband packages – although deals are available from as little as £3.25 a month.

Julia Stent, telecoms expert at uSwitch.com, said: “Unfortunately, many Scots perceive there to be a number of obstacles when it comes to switching broadband suppliers – and this has led to apathy. As a result, people end up staying with one provider for years, but loyalty doesn’t always pay. Consumers need to check that they are on the best deal at least once a year. If not, they could be throwing away money or not getting the broadband package best for their needs.”
