This week I unexpectedly arrived in Aviemore on business and needed acommodation.
I telephoned a large hotel group; £119 was the cheapest it could offer for bed and breakfast.
I tried a few guest houses who all wanted in excess of £50. Presumably they get it.
On accepting one, I went for dinner in a local hostelry. Not a table to be had. A wait of half an hour ensued.
I remarked on the expensive cars in the car park. We are constantly being told that ordinary people are in dire straits (can’t afford another 3p on a litre of milk) and businesses are struggling.
From what I saw, recession, what recession?
