The news that Donald Trump is to ensure that all his establishments boycott William Grant and Sons, makers of Glenfiddich Whisky, just because Michael Forbes of Menie was voted Top Scot in the recent “Spirit of Scotland” awards (your report, 6 December) should go a long way in convincing those who need convincing what a childish and vindictive specimen Trump is.

It also shows how out of touch Trump is as Glenfiddich was only the joint sponsor of these awards and it was the general public who voted Mr Forbes as Top Scot.

So why Trump is subjecting William Grant and Sons to his wrath is beyond me.
