Small is good
A study released by accountants Grant Thornton ranking the 50 most dynamic economies makes interesting reading.
The top five are Singapore (population 5.2 million), Finland (5.4m), Sweden (9.5m), Israel (7.8m) and Austria (8.4m). The UK (62.6m) comes a lowly joint 32nd with Vietnam (87.8m). An independent Scotland (population 5.3m) would appear to be the ideal size to create a dynamic competitive economy with or without oil.
