Put children first

The storm about education
secretary Michael Russell providing inaccurate information
concerning college funding to the Scottish Parliament continues to dominate the political
agenda while our education
system seems to lurch from
crisis to crisis, with teachers now threatening to walk out.

There is obviously a diminishing lack of confidence in Mr Russell’s ability to cope with his ministerial brief at a time when we need a progressive and stable education system to ensure the next generation receives a proper grounding to respond to ever-increasing challenges.

Our children should come before safeguarding an imploding ministerial career and perhaps a new education secretary could draw a line under the issue and move on.
