Mitt-witt
Dismissing United States Presidential candidate Romney has a “mitt-wit” because of the odd diplomatic gaffe – such as forgetting the name of the UK Labour Party leader – is a mistake.
We over-estimate the value attached to verbal fluency in the US and he is much more American in his prejudices and world view than that cool cosmopolitan Barak Obama.
Whether he wins the election or not, Romney has an experience of the world of work our leaders conspicuously lack and his tough pragmatism made him a fortune in business.
Like George Bush, he is an Ivy-Leaguer – and 99 per cent of UK graduates could not make it into Harvard as cleaners – and treats the global warming lobby with contempt.
He also believes support for Israel is the key US foreign policy and that militant Islam should be faced down and such stances are supported by the vast majority of Americans.
