Leap of faith

In view of the alarming state of the world, Peter Laidlaw ­(Letters, 6 December) wants Scotland to avoid the “leap in the dark” of becoming, again, a normal independent (and interdependent) member of the world community of nations.

Yes, we should have done it a long time ago, but in present world circumstances the sooner we make the move to Scottish independence the better – then we can avoid further waste of our resources through the inappropriate policies of UK governments and of lives through useless participation in wars which serve neither Scotland’s nor the world’s interests.
