Impatient gods

The Point of View headed “Food Chain” (Letters, 16 June) incorrectly states that Homo sapiens evolved two million years ago.

While the earliest humanoid species may have appeared around that time, our own species, Homo sapiens, did not evolve until around 60,000 years ago. To revert to the original discussion, I am not sure if earlier species of humans had a god who gifted their food to them. As food chains were in existence on Earth many millions of years before any vertebrates evolved, any such god must have been awfully impatient to deliver her gifts.
