Iceland’s honour

Your report (3 December) about Iceland having considerably reimbursed the various Scottish councils that invested cash in high interest, short-term offers from Icelandic banks, before the same banks collapsed in 2008, illustrates an honour that doesn’t seem to be replicated in Britain.

Here it seems that the British banks that collapsed and were rescued by cash from the British government are not bothered about reimbursing anybody.

They have been reported more for persisting in giving bonuses to their top executives than for paying back the monies put towards their fiscal rescue.

Not bad for a very small country like Iceland whose total population is smaller than that of several British cities.
A small country but a big sense of honour.
