Graphically lost

Mike Scott (Letters, 3 December) is correct to query the validity of the climate change graph recently published in your pages.

I am reminded of the group of climate change scientists who were on a field visit in the Highlands. Within an hour or so they became hopelessly lost.

Their leader sat down to study the area map as darkness fell. After a while he stood up and pointed ahead.

“Don’t worry,” he said. “Do you see that mountain over there?” The group nodded in grateful relief. “Well, according to this map, we are on top of it.”
