Gaelic will live on

How sad that Crawford Mackie (Letters, 21 November) resents the fact that a fluent Gaelic
speaker is required for the headship of a Gaelic medium primary.
Surely he or she must lead by
example.

Knowledge of languages other than English is essential in the modern world. Where
better to start with than Gaelic?
Personal development is much enhanced by a broad outlook.

Is there really a clique in Scotland who resent the expenditure necessary to continue to support our indigenous language? Who is guilty of discrimination here?

Gaelic has survived many
attempts by various self-interested groups to stamp it out.

It survived, and will continue to do so.
