Reading your most informative article, “Feeding time at Edinburgh Zoo costs £1400 a day” (12 November), begs the question: “How much does  feeding time cost at that other Edinburgh address with bars on the windows?”

Many of us, perhaps, will not grudge the zoo’s 19 chimpanzees their £900 weekly food bill, but may find subsidising the fine dining of their highly paid Holyrood equivalents less palatable.
