English welcome
Labour’s education spokesman Hugh Henry (your report, 11 January) worries, or seeks to worry us, about the potential cost of English students at Scottish universities in an independent Scotland.
This assumes that both Scotland and England remain in the European Union after independence.
So the pro-Union scaremongers want to frighten us both with the possibility that we might be excluded from the EU and with the cost of staying in. Will they tell us which they think is scariest?
Anyway, I trust that we shall continue to welcome students from all over the world, including England, after independence and benefit from their presence and what they spend here – whatever tuition fees they or their sponsors ultimately pay.
