Emotional ties

I have just returned from a three-week tour of England, visiting friends and relatives, and was shocked and disappointed to discover how  little most of them care about the independence debate – even those who take an interest in current affairs.

This hammered it home to me that Scotland already is a separate country in many ways and, emotionally at least, they wouldn’t miss us.
